In the code, nations are still referred to by the names of factions from the original Mount&Blade.

Two minor 'factions' should be mentioned here as well: Bandits and Mercenaries. But you don’t need to settle for joining one of them. All of the factions have a leader, and a number of vassals. Most factions appear to get very similar units, meaning no faction has a real edge over the other. War is almost constant, with each faction of Westeros vying for control of the Seven Kingdoms. For more information on each, go to their respective pages. Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is populated with a handful of factions led by imposing monarchs at the start. A Clash of Kings picks up the story during the War of the Five Kings.

The five nations in the game are listed below. In With Fire & Sword, you are not allowed to make your own faction, you can only join a nation (starting out as just a subject) or you can start a rebellion by capturing one of the fiefs of the nation you want to rebel against. Unlike in other games, claimants can be found in taverns of the nation that they are the claimant for. In various taverns you can ask a traveller for information on their locations, at the cost of 30 thalers. The Southern Empire, like the Northern Empire, seeks to gain dominion over what remained of the Calradic Empire. The claimants can be found in random towns. Additionally, each faction is distinguished by a different style of army: some have excellent infantry, others excellent Musketeers/Archers or cavalry, or a combination of these.Įach nation has a monarch and his subjects, as well as a claimant to the throne who waits for someone (the player) to champion their cause.
